5 top Uses of Radiohead in Film

Radiohead: Everyone's favorite band. Well, not everybody -- some fans surely abandoned them sometime after Amnesiac -- but they are still as culturally relevant as always: these were on 'SNL' earlier this Saturday evening and 2 days later, performed on the special hour-lengthy episode of 'The Colbert Report.' (To express nothing of the NY City shows at Roseland, which offered in a nanosecond.) However, Radiohead is not only a TV-carrying out group company directors like to make use of the band's music within their films (based on IMDb, they have been featured in over 30). It adds hipster cred towards the movie and makes each scene appear much much deeper than it truly is. Knowing that, Moviefone is definitely the five best uses from the British band's tracks in film. 'Romeo + Juliet' 'Talk Show Host' This song occurs the very first time we're brought to Leonardo DiCaprio's Romeo. At that time, roughly 1.4 trillion women fell deeply in love with the near future superstar. (We're able to only find this scene in Italian -- because of @cristimoreano for pointing this out). 'Twilight' '15 step' While lots of music writers cried foul their beloved band had been utilized in 'Twilight,' it did expose 1000's of youthful vampire fans to Radiohead. Plus, it had been only used throughout the finish credits, so quit your whining writers. '50/50' 'High and Dry' The approaching celebrities Frederick Gordon-Levitt, who already has music cred together with his Hit Record Joe project. Adding this classic Radiohead track towards the film multiplies that cred tenfold. 'Children of Men' 'Life inside a Glasshouse' Among the couple of moments within this movie where prozac isn't needed. This specific scene features Michael Caine's stoner character, Jasper, smoking pot with Clive Owen's Theo, all as the closing track towards the 2001 album 'Amnesiac' plays without anyone's knowledge. 'Vanilla Sky' 'Everything In The Right Place' Cameron Crowe knows his music. Therefore it made sense the opening scene in 'Vanilla Sky' would use probably the most memorable opening guitar chords from an album -- 2000's 'Kid A' -- in the recent past. BONUS! 'Anonymous' 'Everything in the Right Place' Believe to advertise your film that informs the storyplot from the guy who really authored Shakespeare's plays then using a song which was recorded almost 400 years later? Tyra Banks Invites Readers To Visit Modelland

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- A tweet doesnt usually make a person cry. But when Tyra Banks recently saw a photo posted by a fan promoting the release of her book, it meant so much that the tears started flowing when she talked about it. You forget that people are gonna be excited about (the book) and are gonna read it, she said. That was really touching to see that especially for something new. Im new at this. Ive never written a fiction book before and that really touched me. Modelland, which is now in stores, is the first of a three-book young adult series. It follows an awkward teen named Tookie De La Creme who gets invited to attend an elite academy called Modelland. It makes sense why Banks would want to write a book for young adults. The 37-year-old Banks has an affinity toward empowering young women. Thats an audience that I personally am passionate about. I feel like young girls in particular are going through that transition into adulthood and theres a lot of self-doubt, theres a lot of insecurity, theres a lot of self-acceptance issues when they look in the mirror at their reflection and they dont necessarily feel good enough or that they measure up, Banks said. Modelland isnt a tell-all about the industry, but there are some parallels to Banks own experience in the business. Its inspired by my life and experiences in fashion and modeling, she said. My successes as well as a lot of pain I had to go through. The book also addresses topics that Banks featured on daytimes The Tyra Banks Show, which ran for five seasons and wrapped in 2010. I still talk about insecurities. I have a girl in Modelland who is a cutter. I had many shows about that, Banks said. Theres bulimia, anorexia, all these things that are touched upon in Modelland that I used to touch upon on my talk show. Hollywood is already interested in the series. Banks said she was approached by a successful film producer shortly after it was announced that she was publishing the book. I would love to open up the Modelland casting to the world, she said. Im looking for an Everygirl to possibly play one of the characters in the story. Banks, who is enrolled at Harvard Business School, said shed love to produce films one day. Thats what I was going to go to college for, she said. Ive done the TV thing and will continue to do so, but the idea of films is pretty amazing. Banks other TV show, Americas Next Top Model, recently premiered its 17th season as an All-Star edition. Copyright 2011 by Associated Press. The evening includes funding screening of Emmerich's Anonymous, that is occur Elizabethan England a Wolfgang Puck-focused dessert reception, and also the award presentation.our editor recommendsIt's Official: Bert Fields Is the middle of the Universe'Anonymous' Trailer HitsAnonymous: Toronto Review TORONTO REVIEW: Anonymous Fields has lengthy been thinking about the authorship from the Shakespeare plays. In 2005 he released the non-fiction book Gamers: The Mysterious Identity of William Shakespeare, which handles the topic. VIDEO: 'Anonymous' Trailer Hits This appeared like a great time for that Hollywood Reporter to meet up with Fields about them. The Hollywood Reporter: Which argument are you currently on within the authorship debate? Bert Fields: I am an agnostic. I believe there is a serious problem whether the man from Stratford, who I call the Stratford Guy, really authored the poems and plays of William Shakespeare. His title is William Shakespeare, there is however an problem over whether he authored the plays. I do not eliminate the chance that he did, however i can produce a strong argument that signifies it is a real stretch this guy authored them by themself. THR: Does not which happen constantly with scripts? Fields: Yes, but we now have an arbitration system. Had they'd that arbitration system within the 16th century we'd be considered a lot best around the problem of who authored Shakespeare's plays. THR: Have you got a theory on who authored them? Fields: I believe probably the most likely factor is definitely an aristocrat, such as the Earl of Oxford, authored the fundamental plays and so the Stratford Guy, who had been a theater-smart, tough-minded guy edited them and done them and permitted these phones be created under his title. In individuals days, it wouldn't happen to be seemly or proper to have an aristocrat to create for that public theater. THR: It might be as if you writing for any Hollywood trade paper. Fields: It's similar to that particular, yes. THR: Should you be on the desert island and may only have one Shakespeare have fun with you, what will it be? Fields: Merchant of Venice is a superb favorite of mine. You will find serious incongruencies within the figures and i believe Shakespeare intended individuals incongruencies. Portia has insanely racist lines. Just about any character, except Shylock and Antonio, turn to be hypocrites. They are saying one factor and do another. THR: Which would not take place in the entertainment industry. Fields: I have never witnessed any hypocrisy in most of my many years of dealings here. Nor dishonesty. Toronto: Kaira Pitt, George Clooney Bring The new sony Pictures Roaring Back To Oscar Race

Because the film industry flows into the city and also the Toronto Film Festival prepared because of its Gala Opening ThursdayNight kickoff ofDavis Guggenheim’s U2 movie, In The Sky Lower, the Fest really got off and running earlier within the day, asleast as far asSony Pictures can be involved . The studio that possibly think it is likely to have its first Best Picture Oscarwin in over 2 decades this past year using the Social Networking is serving notice within Toronto that it's in the race inside a large way again this season with two potential Best Pic challengers quickly the softball bat. Both Kaira Pitt’s Moneyball and George Clooney’s The Ides Of March tested consecutive to some theatre full of press and industry types this mid-day prior to the studio’s double gala premieres Friday evening in the Roy Thomson Hall. That inevitably will providethe type of thedueling dose of star energy a movie festival are only able to imagine. Within the situation of Moneyball The new sony is tossing its World Premiere here and despite the fact that theroad toCanada would be a tumultuous 8 year ride getting it towards the screen, it had been all worthwhile. You are able to definitelyadd Kaira Pitt towards the growing listing of Best Actor challengers and toss in Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jonah Hill as supporting options. The film according to Michael Lewis’ book , Moneyball: The skill of Winning an Unfair Game is really a baseball movie even for those who hate baseball. Everything began in 2003 when former New Line professional Rachael Horovitz attempted to market it to some studio but got no takers. Finally joining with author Stan Chervin (who will get a tale credit) they put a fantastic pitch, getting fervrent curiosity about 2004from both Warners and The new sony, but ultimately opted for the second and Amy Pascal who I'm told demonstrated great adoration for the project from the first day. Initially baseball freak Steven Soderbergh was involved but needed to pass because of other committments including another baseball-designed movie he'd for George Clooney. EventuallySony introduced in producer Michael P Luca to become listed on Horovitz and 5 years later last year Soderbergh was to direct. However in a highly-detailed situation of creative differencesthe Oscar winning directorwas jettisoned in the film just 72 hrs before production ended up being to begin once the studio transformed its mind abouthis changes to Steven Zaillian’s adaptation. His primary additionincluded Yellows-like recommendations from real-existence gamers. Pitt, knowing a positive thing when he first viewed it,remained aboard throughout after which it got back in line withExecutive Producer Scott Rudin coming aboardalong withscreenwriter Aaron Sorkin who did a polish on Zaillian’s script (both get credit now) and also the employing of Bennett Burns (Capote) to exchange Soderbergh. It’s easy to understand why Pitt may wish to stay with this role despite uncle and Sea’s 11 director Soderbergh left (he moved onto direct Contagion which hits cinemas today). This can be a classic superstar role within the tradition of something which Redford or Newmanwould have completed in their prime. He's never been better and also the movie is the greatest sports-oriented film since Bull Durham, a genuine triumph thinking about the lengthy winding road it required to get at the screen. For the 2nd feature about the The new sony bill, The Ides Of March clearly performed well in Venice also it appeared to visit right here too having a tough audience of experts including Roger Ebert, with wife, Chazz who explained he was hurrying in while he was concerned about obtaining a good chair. When a movie fan , always a film fan. I had been told it had been Ebert and the late partner Gene Siskel nobody put this festival into the spotlight within the late 70′s once they were introduced directly into do high profileinterviews with top names like Warren Beatty. It had been nice to determine Ebert here since he needed to skip Telluride despite the fact that Chazz was there. For ‘Ides’,additionally to Clooney who directs and co-creates it provides a great supporting cast including Philip Seymour Hoffman (again) , Paul Giamatti and Evan Rachel Wood all backing Ryan Gosling that has a 1-two punch of their own at Toronto with this particular film and Cannes sensationDrive. In line with the play , Farragut North, this film version continues to be significantly transformed. The Governor Morris character Clooney plays is really a brand-new invention which’s a positive thing because the movie produces a killer confrontation scene betweenhim and Gosling that actually jumps. This can be a workclearlyin the very best tradition from the challenging films from the 70′s major galleries accustomed to come out. It's also a little reminiscent , in a great way, of classic films about politics like 1964′s The Very Best Guy starring Henry Fonda and High cliff Robertson that also worked , such as the Ides of March, using the underhanded manipulations inside a Presidential primary campaign. In addtionto all of this The new sony has another Oscar hopeful World Premiering here using its first press tests tomorrow, the time costume drama Anonymous, an atypical exercise from disaster representative Roland Emmerich which asks the question if Shakespeare really authored their own plays. Therefore the studio that has spent a lot of 2011 delivering unhealthy foods movies like half an hour or Less now’s newbie, Bucky Larson Wants To Become A Star appears like it wants to become a serious Oscar player again this season. But still in the future within the holidays may be the David Fincher adaptation from the Girl Using the Dragon Tattoo starring Difficulties and Rooney Mara who might be a Best Actress contender if things pan out. With this film, Moneyball and Warner Bros Christmas release, Very Noisy and extremely Close it appears like Scott Rudin, who had a couple of the ten 2010 Best Pic nominees within the Social Networking and True Gritcould return for additional.

EXCLUSIVE 'Drive' Clip: Ryan Gosling And Carey Mulligan Share A Kiss

After a series of extremely well-received screenings and the build-up of buzz from premieres at Cannes and the Los Angeles Film Festival, "Drive" is turning out to be one of the most hotly anticipated movies of awards season. It comes from "Bronson" director Nicolas Winding Refn and stars Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan and Ron Perlman, and has all the makings of Oscar gold. MTV News has an exclusive clip from the upcoming movie that shows a tense but tender scene between Gosling and Mulligan. There's no dialogue in the clip, and that's because there doesn't need to be. Gosling's character Driver notices that the man next to him is holding a gun, and instead of creating a confrontation with him, he moves Mulligan's Irene safely behind him and shares a passionate kiss with her. It doesn't give away much, but the clip certainly is a tease for the violent drama. Unless you're attending "Drive's" screening at the Toronto International Film Festival or have already seen the movie, the flick will hit theaters on September 16. Until then, there's a great new trailer that was just released and two new clips that have hit the web. And of course there's that surprisingly pretty poster that debuted earlier this month. "Drive" follows a man named Driver who is a stunt driver by day and a getaway driver by night. He ends up falling for his new neighbor Irene, but discovers that she has a bit of a troubled past. Her ex-convict husband Standard returns to her life, and Driver decides to take part in a dangerous heist to pay off Standard and keep him out of Irene's life forever. That plan spins wildly out of control, and Driver needs to switch from the defensive to the offensive to save the girl he loves. Are you looking forward to seeing "Drive"?
